How does it work?
This course is not a diet. It looks at WHAT triggers us to eat and WHAT we can do about it. Do you know that most of our eating is unconscious and driven by emotion? We eat when we feel empty, lonely, bored or just feel uncomfortable!
a) we are unconscious of what food our body wants us to eat - unaware of what we are putting in our mouths, its flavour, and how it interacts with our bodies
b) we eat at "set times" of the day - unaware of whether we are hungry or not. Often taking in more food than we need
c) alternatively, we skip meals and don't notice that we are actually hungry - ignoring our body's signal for nutrients and energy
d) we eat so fast we do not know when we are full
e) we have so many distractions - TV, noise, alcohol - that we are unaware of how much and what we are eating
In this course we will explore these areas:
Is there a diet?
No there isn’t. Diet’s don’t work! Through doing the practices you will connect into your body’s natural intelligence regarding what to eat, when to eat and how much to eat. We all have this “inner voice” and it will guide you to a diet that brings you good health and happiness.
What inspired this course?
Last year I went on a diet and was surprised as to what came up. I craved cheese and bread, found myself getting quite stressed about food planning and management. In fact, I was amazed about the amount of feelings that came up around eating and food!
When I started my hypnotherapy course I learnt how to bypass the conditioning in the conscious mind and ask the subconscious mind to help me make the changes I wanted in my life through self hypnosis. I attended an additional weight loss course which included the Hypno Gastric Band therapy. The skills I have learnt through these two courses (which included neuro linguistic programming) have taught me how to work with emotional eating patterns. Finally I have been using two weight loss books by Paul McKenna and you will find that some of his wonderful techniques will be used in my classes. He has tried and tested these techniques with great results.
Who is running the course?
Elayne has been working for many years as a massage therapist and also doing work in the area of emotional release. She has completed the Hypno Gastric Band therapy course and is finishing her Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy.
Is there anything else I need to know?
There are many reasons we become overweight. Lack of education about food and a healthy diet, expectations of other people, lack of awareness, a medical condition, emotions that drive us into the kitchen to fill the hole, and habits that creep in… What I want you to know that being overweight is not entirely your fault! You didn’t have the understanding or techniques to work with the wisdom of your emotions, or how to release past traumas that keep you eating, and knowing what food combinations make us crave more food.
However, in doing this course you will have the techniques to change your life. We can show you what to do, repeating them throughout the course so you become really confident. We can help you feel motivated and support you when you slip up (as we all do and will do). However, the real success happens when you get home. We cannot make you slim or happy, or control what you do. You do it! So your success is your responsibility.
