How to keep calm through a busy time
With Christmas holidays coming up, I seem to get busier and busier! In the past it was almost overwhelming. I get tired because of the longer days, and there seems to be a lot of extra jobs and social events to cram into my work life. The first thing I did this year was plan in a long weekend away, just before Christmas, so I can have a rest. I sleep, read, go for walks and stay off the phone/computer.
The second thing I did was install a Mindfulness Bell App onto my phone. This goes off every half an hour. Its sounds like something out of a temple. When it goes off, I stop what I am doing, get into my body, relax (my shoulders and belly) and then take three long, deep tummy breaths.
Breath 1 - I draw all my energy in and get into my body
Breath 2 - I feel my feet and connect into the earth (get grounded by sending roots out into the earth)
Breath 3 - I get into the NOW. Calm, centered and relaxed.
Then I get on with my day.
The mindfulness bell often goes off when I am with people and they ask what it is. So we do it together. Its such a buzz and a great thing to share.
