Psychodrama Courses
Living the Local News - sociodrama sesions- where you are both the actors and the audience
Dates: June 23rd, July 21st, Aug 18th, Sept 22nd, Oct 20th
Time: 7.15 to 9.30pm
Venue: Centre for Human Potential 319 Hardy St
Cost: $10 at the door
Led by: Cher Williscroft Sociodramatist
About the sessions
Using sociodrama we will identify and explore the current news stories that are affecting the people of Nelson. We will be doing our own investigation into the local news stories that affect us all, by `living’ the news in action. You will experience your part in it, your response, and what actions (if any) you want to take. You will see what is happening from the eyes and hearts and minds of those involved and affected who you represent dramatically on a `stage’. Some of these stories you bring may not have reached the local news media yet and are part of the daily living experience of the people on Nelson. Bring a local news story that interests you, and be prepared to enter into a real life investigation into perspectives that may surprise you and give you a new outlook.
This is not a chance to protest, grandstand or lobby – the evenings are designed for ordinary people who want to experience the issues in our community in a fresh way, have your own response and make your own mind up about it.
Sociodrama Is a group action method that explores the social and cultural forces that influence our everyday functioning and brings this into our conscious awareness. It helps us to orientate to the different values and belief systems so we can live creatively in Nelson and in all society
